General Responsibilities
- Program Development and Implementation: Contribute to the creation, execution, and interpretation of new or updated programs and initiatives.
- Representation and Networking: Represent the Department of Economic Development (DED) at conferences, training sessions, and meetings related to redevelopment, community development, and other economic development topics.
- Budget Oversight: Monitor expenditures to ensure alignment with budget allocations, recommending and implementing cost-saving strategies as needed.
- Strategic Planning and Coordination: Exercise significant independence, initiative, and strategic judgment in planning and coordinating community and economic development programs, with work evaluated through reports, conferences, and operational outcomes.
- Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Education
- Preferred Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, Finance, Accounting, Community or Economic Development, Economics, or a related field.

Previous Experience
- Policy and Regulation Expertise: Proven ability to read, interpret, and apply statutes, policies, and regulations.
- Team Leadership and Development: Demonstrated success in managing and developing teams by:
- Establishing accountability and performance management standards.
- Empowering team members through effective training, delegation, and mentorship.
- Utilizing resourcefulness and creative problem-solving to overcome challenges.
- Project Management: Successful experience in managing complex projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.

- Data Analysis and Decision Making: Ability to distill, interpret, and communicate key data to make informed decisions and strategic recommendations.
- Strategic Problem-Solving: Proficient in analyzing complex issues, identifying root causes, and proposing effective solutions.

- Operational Excellence: Strong commitment to operational efficiency and continuous improvement. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma principles is highly preferred, with a willingness to further develop these skills.

- Exceptional Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics, such as economic development programs, to a variety of audiences.

- Independent Judgment and Initiative: Capable of working autonomously with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment and initiative.
