Business Support Assistant

Job Category: Education

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive, highly organised, and friendly Business Support Assistant to join the administrative team at Duke of Lancaster School, a specialist SEN setting within the Eastern Education Group.

As the first point of contact for pupils, parents, and visitors, your role will be central to the daily running of the school office — supporting both administrative and pastoral functions. You’ll manage communications, maintain accurate pupil records, assist in preparing key documentation (including EHCP reviews), and provide general support to the wider school community.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the drive to support young people with special educational needs (SEN) in a fast-paced, caring environment.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for phone and in-person enquiries

  • Maintain and manage accurate and up-to-date pupil records using Arbor and Microsoft Office

  • Assist in the preparation of documents, reports, and paperwork for EHCP reviews and pastoral support

  • Provide high-quality administrative support across key school functions

  • Support with general reception duties, scheduling, and file management

  • Ensure confidentiality and safeguarding practices are upheld at all times

 About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multitask

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ideally familiar with Arbor or other MIS systems

  • A confident communicator with a welcoming and professional manner

  • A team player who thrives in a supportive, SEN-focused school environment

  • Committed to continuous improvement and child-centred support

 Staff Benefits

Working within the Eastern Education Group means access to a fantastic range of benefits, including:

  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme

  • Family-friendly policies and flexible working options

  • Employee Assistance Programme for wellbeing support

  • Cycle to Work scheme, store discounts, and other savings

  • Free on-site parking

  • On-site canteen and regular company events

  • Ongoing CPD, staff development days, and career progression pathways

  • Funded subject courses and access to diverse staff communities (including EDI and neurodiverse networks)
