Position Overview:

Nelson University is seeking a passionate and experienced Cafeteria Chef to join our food services team. The ideal candidate will be creative, service-oriented, and dedicated to providing high-quality meals in a Christ-centered environment. This role involves leading daily food preparation, maintaining kitchen safety standards, and fostering Christian hospitality on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of nutritious meals for students and staff

  • Ensure compliance with food quality, safety, and sanitation guidelines

  • Work closely with the Food Service Director on menu planning and special events

  • Supervise kitchen staff and student workers

  • Manage inventory, food rotation, and minimize waste

  • Uphold a respectful, welcoming kitchen environment rooted in Christian values

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A lifestyle and faith commitment aligned with Nelson University’s values

  • At least 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or institutional food service

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Successful background check clearance

Preferred:

  • ServSafe Certification
