Position Overview:
As a CTE Instructor, you’ll play a key role in preparing incarcerated individuals for reentry into society by teaching career and technical subjects. You’ll support inmate rehabilitation by developing their academic, vocational, and life skills, helping reduce recidivism and promote responsible citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and conduct classes in assigned CTE subjects

  • Supervise inmate students and maintain order, safety, and tool control

  • Conduct roll calls, maintain attendance records, and ensure discipline

  • Evaluate student progress, administer grades/tests, and provide feedback

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and assist in curriculum and budget planning

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/equivalent and 3 years’ experience in the CTE subject

  • OR applicable industry license or postsecondary certificate (can substitute 1 year of experience)

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain appropriate certification within 12 months

  • Eligibility for a Temporary Florida Department of Corrections Educator’s Certificate

Special Note: You’ll have 5 years to upgrade from a Temporary to a Professional FDC Educator’s Certificate.

Schedule:

  • 8-hour day shifts (in-person, not eligible for telework)
