Job Description

WCG is seeking a passionate and proactive Careers Adviser to join our sector-leading Careers Team at Royal Leamington Spa College. This part-time, term-time-only role is ideal for either qualified professionals or individuals keen to build a career in student guidance and support. The position offers in-person service delivery across WCG campuses and local schools with some travel required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver impartial, one-to-one careers advice to students across Further and Higher Education.

  • Provide expert guidance on university, apprenticeships, and employment pathways.

  • Support learners with UCAS applications and career planning.

  • Design and deliver engaging employability workshops (CV writing, job search, interview skills).

  • Collaborate with Personal Learning Advisers and academic staff to support student progression.

  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of college-wide events such as induction and careers fairs.

  • Maintain accurate records and evaluate guidance services in line with quality standards.

  • Promote the Gatsby Benchmarks and contribute to the college tutorial programme.

  • Attend internal and external recruitment events as a representative of WCG.

  • Be available for key college dates, including GCSE results and enrolment activities.

Safeguarding & Legal Requirements

This role is classified under Regulated Activity. A satisfactory Enhanced DBS check, Occupational Health clearance, and reference verification are mandatory. Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • GCSEs Grade C/4+ in English & Mathematics (or Level 2 equivalent) or willingness to obtain.

  • Level 6 Careers Guidance qualification (or willingness to work towards one).

  • Strong communication, organisation, and IT skills.

  • UK driving license and access to transport (or ability to travel between sites reliably).

  • Understanding of equality, diversity, and safeguarding best practices.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of post-16 education pathways.

  • Experience in careers, education, or recruitment environments.

  • Presentation and event coordination experience.

Work Schedule & Location

  • Monday to Friday – specific hours to be discussed during the interview.

  • Based at Leamington Spa Campus, with travel to other WCG campuses and local schools as needed.
