Role Purpose

Support external customers by designing passive optical networks and generating bills of material (BOMs) for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks. Additional responsibilities include solutions for Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB), and other access networks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop optimized passive optical network solutions using Corning’s products

  • Provide design support with technical and commercial balance

  • Join Sales/Commercial teams on customer visits for solution presentations and training

  • Troubleshoot and refine design iterations to meet customer and business objectives

  • Formulate solutions with core and custom products

  • Collaborate with internal commercial teams to manage design impact

  • Work with peer engineers to share responsibilities and maximize efficiencies

  • Participate in special projects, potentially requiring travel or customer-embedded roles

Required Education & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal)

Desired Experience

  • 2+ years in the telecommunications industry

  • CAD/GIS software knowledge

  • Product development or manufacturing experience

  • Understanding of optical fiber theory

  • Knowledge of Passive Optical Network products (FTTx, LAN, Data Center)

  • Hands-on fiber optic field experience (splicing, testing, connectorization, etc.)

  • Experience in commercial settings (Sales, Marketing, etc.)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $83,839 – $115,279 (based on location, experience, and education)
