Role Purpose
Support external customers by designing passive optical networks and generating bills of material (BOMs) for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks. Additional responsibilities include solutions for Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs), Fiber-to-the-Business (FTTB), and other access networks.
Key Responsibilities

Develop optimized passive optical network solutions using Corning’s products

Provide design support with technical and commercial balance
-
Join Sales/Commercial teams on customer visits for solution presentations and training

Troubleshoot and refine design iterations to meet customer and business objectives
-
Formulate solutions with core and custom products
-
Collaborate with internal commercial teams to manage design impact
-
Work with peer engineers to share responsibilities and maximize efficiencies
-
Participate in special projects, potentially requiring travel or customer-embedded roles
Required Education & Skills
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
-
Ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
-
Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work with minimal supervision

Excellent English communication skills (written & verbal)
Desired Experience

2+ years in the telecommunications industry

CAD/GIS software knowledge

Product development or manufacturing experience

Understanding of optical fiber theory

Knowledge of Passive Optical Network products (FTTx, LAN, Data Center)

Hands-on fiber optic field experience (splicing, testing, connectorization, etc.)

Experience in commercial settings (Sales, Marketing, etc.)

Salary Range: $83,839 – $115,279 (based on location, experience, and education)
