Purpose of Position

Under supervision, the Cashier performs cashiering work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, handling payments, maintaining records, and ensuring accurate financial transactions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accept and account for cash and checks received for payments.

  • Issue receipts and accurately record transactions.

  • Operate cash registers, coin machines, or posting machines.

  • Carry bags of coins and bills as required.

  • Verify, count, and safeguard all collected monies.

  • Prepare bank deposits of receipts.

  • Maintain accounts, post charges/credits, and prepare reports (delinquencies, refunds, arrears, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Option 1: High School Diploma (or equivalent) + one year of full-time experience handling money (cashier, teller, clerk, etc.).

  • Option 2: Two years of full-time experience as described above.

  • Option 3: A combination of education and experience equivalent to Options 1 or 2.

  • Note: All candidates must have at least one year of direct cashiering experience.
