NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi is a 457-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The facility is widely recognized for its Level 1 Trauma Center, Burn Center, Surgical Intensive Care Unit, regional Stroke Center, Snakebite Treatment Center, Breast Health Center, Bariatric Surgery Center, and Cancer Service.

Jacobi also features the region’s only multi-person hyperbaric chamber, accommodating up to nine patients simultaneously, and a modern Ambulatory Care Pavilion that complements inpatient care with high-quality, state-of-the-art outpatient services.

Purpose of Position

Under supervision, the Cashier performs cashiering work of ordinary difficulty and responsibility, handling payments, maintaining records, and ensuring accurate financial transactions.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Accept and account for cash and checks received for payments.
Issue receipts and accurately record transactions.
Operate cash registers, coin machines, or posting machines.
Carry bags of coins and bills as required.
Verify, count, and safeguard all collected monies.
Prepare bank deposits of receipts.
Maintain accounts, post charges/credits, and prepare reports (delinquencies, refunds, arrears, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: High School Diploma (or equivalent) + one year of full-time experience handling money (cashier, teller, clerk, etc.).
Option 2: Two years of full-time experience as described above.
Option 3: A combination of education and experience equivalent to Options 1 or 2.
Note: All candidates must have at least one year of direct cashiering experience.
