Key Responsibilities of a Category Manager

Main Duties for the Category Manager Role

• Develop and implement category plans that meet sales, margin, and profit targets.

• Drive own-brand product growth, sourcing effectively to boost margins.

• Lead annual supplier negotiations to secure competitive terms.

• Gather and respond to customer feedback to shape and refine category strategies.

• Communicate category objectives clearly across the business to ensure alignment.

• Maintain the principles of good, better, and best across product displays.

• Work as part of the senior team to enhance operations and identify improvement opportunities.

• Manage and develop the category team, ensuring effective succession planning.
