Role Overview

We’re looking for a Supervisor to join the newly opened Colleague Restaurant at Booker Distribution in Fareham. This is a key supervisory role, requiring previous kitchen management experience, ideally including setting up new canteens or similar facilities. You’ll manage a team of catering assistants to provide hot and cold food services to all colleagues, ensuring the canteen area is maintained clean and tidy at all times.

Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00, although these hours may vary due to the nature of the new role.

Main Responsibilities

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with food hygiene guidelines (HACCP, Allergen, COSHH, etc.)
• Implement and manage HACCP best practices, ensuring temperature control, stock quality, and date code checks
• Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the canteen, kitchen, and vending facilities
• Assist with other catering duties to ensure smooth operations
• Manage the catering P&L (Profit and Loss)
• Ensure reconciliation of cash, credit cards, and banking procedures are followed
• Order stock for food preparation and vending machines
• Control stock management, including quality checks and coding
• Develop and implement effective cleaning schedules
• Manage vending machine replenishment, pricing changes, cleaning, and cash collection
• Assist with hospitality support, including maintaining housekeeping standards in the canteen, kitchen, and dining areas

You Will Need

• Food handling qualification
• Level 3 Food Hygiene & Safety for Catering Certificate
• Allergen Training Certificate
• Attention to detail with the ability to work independently
• Supervisory experience
• Strong customer service skills and a friendly, outgoing personality
• A hands-on approach with a high standard of presentation
• Ability to work within a team and prepare, cook, and serve food while also managing cleaning and stock duties, including vending machines
