CDL A Local Driver

Responsibilities

P&D Drivers play a key role in the safe and efficient transport, loading, and unloading of freight between our service centers and customers. Their duties include:

• Conducting pre- and post-trip inspections of the tractor and trailer used for transportation.

• Accurately documenting all freight handling processes.

• Interpreting maps, road signs, shipping papers, and hazardous material markings.

• Applying appropriate placards to the tractor/trailer when necessary.

• Keeping company vehicles clean and well-maintained.

• Assisting customers with the preparation of shipping paperwork.

• Communicating effectively with both internal and external customers.

• Safely operating forklifts to load and unload products when needed.

• Participating in Dayton Freight’s training and improvement programs.

• Flexibility to work irregular schedules, alternating shifts, and different assignments as required.

• Following operational procedures and guidelines outlined in the Dayton Freight Driver/Dockworker Manual.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 23 years of age.

• At least 18 months of commercial driving experience.

• Valid Class A CDL with Hazardous Materials and Tank Endorsements.

• Valid DOT Physical/Medical Card.

• No DUI or reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years.

• Less than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.

• Basic math skills.

• Fluent in English.

• Legally eligible to work in the United States.

• Ability to pass a drug screen.
