Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a commercial truck equipped with a patented lift mechanism to load and unload containers at customer locations, strictly adhering to all safety protocols.

  • Conduct and record daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the commercial vehicle and lift equipment.

  • Accept additional deliveries as needed to support business requirements.

  • Utilize a company handheld computer for delivery confirmation and navigation.

  • Operate forklifts and/or overhead cranes as required.

  • Clean and inspect containers to ensure they are in excellent condition before delivery.

  • Manage rental paperwork and payment processing with customers.

  • Communicate effectively with the Driver Lead or Market Manager regarding customer inquiries or issues, and prepare driver notes when necessary.

  • Perform on-site repairs to containers and lifts both in the field and at storage centers.

  • Assist with storage center operations as needed.

  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the truck cab, both inside and out.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Management & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Typically reports to management, with direct supervisors usually titled Market Manager or Territory Manager.

  • This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, firing, pay decisions, or performance management.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Valid CDL Class B license without air brake restrictions.

  • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license.

  • Must meet PODS Driver Qualification Standards.

  • Minimum age of 21 years (insurance requirement).

  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT) or ability to obtain one with at least one year certification.

  • Experience with electronic devices and software preferred.

  • Basic math skills sufficient to perform job duties.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, or experience considered.

  • Ability to complete a required two-week New Hire Driver Training Program.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequent ability to remain stationary while driving commercial motor vehicles or operating forklifts.

  • Frequent climbing in and out of trucks and forklifts using three points of contact.

  • Frequent movement to position self for operating equipment and delivering containers.

  • Occasional lifting of boxes up to 50 pounds.

  • Vision requirements include close, peripheral, and night vision, plus strong spatial awareness for parking and maneuvering in tight spaces.

  • Frequent use of hands for writing, typing, operating vehicles and equipment, handling documents, and using handheld devices.

  • Regular application of up to 40 pounds of pressure using motions such as pushing, pulling, and lifting.

  • Frequent reading and writing of documents clearly and accurately.

  • Frequent communication and interaction with managers, coworkers, and customers.


Working Conditions

  • Shift start times may vary; occasional overtime and weekend work may be required.

  • Travel limited to assigned territory.

  • Storage centers may have limited climate control.
