Join Our Team as a Centre Administrator at Newcastle University
We are seeking a dedicated Centre Administrator to support the NIHR Research Support Service Specialist Centre for Public Health. In this pivotal role, the Centre Administrator will provide comprehensive administrative assistance to ensure the smooth operation of our £22 million NIHR-funded initiative. As the first point of contact, the Centre Administrator will liaise with stakeholders across England, contributing to high-quality public health research aimed at improving population health and reducing health inequalities.
Key Responsibilities of the Centre Administrator

Provide administrative support to the Centre’s leadership, including diary management, meeting coordination, and travel arrangements.

Organize and support Centre meetings and working groups, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.

Assist the Pre-Award Research Design Advice Team by managing triage systems and maintaining accurate records in compliance with data protection legislation.

Serve as the primary contact for the Centre, ensuring clear communication with team members, collaborators, and stakeholders.

Manage procurement processes and monitor financial transactions to align with the Centre’s budgetary guidelines.

Coordinate events such as Public Involvement and Community Engagement (PICE) activities.

Develop and maintain efficient office procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Criteria for the Centre Administrator Role

Recent experience in administrative roles within large organizations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant IT systems.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with attention to detail.

Experience in budget monitoring and use of financial management systems.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Experience in developing and implementing administrative systems.
