Key Responsibilities of a Hospital Billing Coder II
As a Hospital Billing Coder II, you will:

Accurately code inpatient, outpatient, ED, and surgical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II.

Review documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with coding standards.

Collaborate with clinical staff and providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding questions.

Address coding-related claim denials and assist with the appeals process.

Mentor and support Billing Coder I team members, sharing expertise on complex cases.

Analyze coding trends and recommend improvements to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, payer guidelines, and internal policies.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Credentials

High school diploma or GED required; additional healthcare or coding education preferred.

Certification required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); RHIT or RHIA also acceptable.

Minimum of 4+ years of experience as a certified coder, including complex and multi-specialty coding assignments.
