Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Provide care aligned with the patient’s condition, developmental stage, and age, as outlined in the department-specific guidelines

  • Contribute to and help implement care plans, adapting to meet the patient’s unique needs, preferences, and routines

  • Reinforce care priorities while promoting patient independence and self-care, as appropriate

  • Recognize and respond to the needs and behaviors of cognitively impaired patients, demonstrating sensitivity and appropriate skills

  • Maintain a safe, clean environment by following infection control protocols, using restraints appropriately, and minimizing hazards

  • Observe and report abnormal signs and symptoms in a timely, accurate manner

  • Support basic nutrition and hydration through regular monitoring and care

  • Recognize and appropriately respond to medical emergencies

  • Document care activities in accordance with organizational standards

Competency and Compliance

  • Practice within the legal scope of CNA duties, in accordance with state statutes and regulations

  • Maintain current CNA certification and required competencies for all clinical skills

  • Perform only those procedures authorized by training and demonstrated proficiency

  • Complete ongoing education and training to ensure safe, effective patient care


Qualifications

  • Certification: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license required

  • CPR: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association (AHA)
