About the Role
UCHealth is seeking an experienced Certified Outpatient Medical Coder to join its Professional Billing team. The coder will be responsible for reviewing and assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes using appropriate coding classifications. This role ensures compliance, proper documentation, and optimal reimbursement for outpatient services across UCHealth’s clinical departments.
This position is 100% remote, and qualified out-of-state candidates may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities

Review medical records and assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes.

Apply appropriate classification systems for assigned record types.

Assign charges for applicable clinics and departments.

Communicate with supervisors regarding coding, compliance, and documentation issues.

Seek clarification from providers or other resources to ensure coding accuracy.

Stay updated with coding regulations and enhance knowledge through continuing education.

Work independently, exercise critical thinking, and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Minimum:

High school diploma or GED.

Coding certification from AHIMA (e.g., CCS, CCA) or AAPC (e.g., CPC).
Preferred:

2 years of outpatient medical coding experience.
