Derbyshire Virtual School is looking for a Children in Care Post 16 Education Support Officer (Virtual School) to join their dedicated team. This role is key in ensuring that the education and transition plans for young people in care are aspirational and tailored to help them reach their full potential. The Children in Care Post 16 Education Support Officer (Virtual School) will work collaboratively with designated tutors, social workers, and other professionals to provide a comprehensive support network, guiding young people through their education and training journey.
Role Overview: Children in Care Post 16 Education Support Officer (Virtual School)
As a Children in Care Post 16 Education Support Officer (Virtual School), you will:

Support the educational planning and development for children in care and care leavers

Work in partnership with tutors, social workers, leaving care workers, and carers to create robust transition plans

Ensure that education/training barriers are addressed and overcome
Key Responsibilities of the Children in Care Post 16 Education Support Officer (Virtual School)
In this role, your duties will include:

Collaborating with professionals to create individualized education plans (PEPs) for young people

Engaging with young people to ensure their educational and transition needs are being met

Supporting the delivery of educational opportunities and tracking progress to ensure success

Providing a voice for young people, challenging when necessary to ensure their educational aspirations are achieved
Skills and Qualifications for Children in Care Post 16 Education Support Officer (Virtual School)
To be successful in this role, you will need:

Strong knowledge and experience working with children in care and care leavers

Proven experience in educational planning and supporting young people through education/training

Excellent IT skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Confidence in communicating with a range of professionals and stakeholders
