Key Responsibilities:

As a Clerical Officer / Receptionist, your duties will include:

  • Providing professional and courteous reception services to patients, visitors, and clinical staff.

  • Managing patient appointment records, including updating patient details on NHS systems.

  • Using the In Touch system to check-in patients and promote self-check-in kiosks.

  • Pre-calling patients to confirm appointments and managing appointment outcome recording.

  • Tracing, transferring, and maintaining accurate patient records and medical notes.

  • Assisting with follow-up appointments and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks.

  • Answering telephone and verbal enquiries from patients, families, GPs, and other departments.

  • Promoting the Friends & Family Test survey to patients.

  • Providing administrative support to other Outpatient areas and covering shifts on a rota basis.

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSEs 9-4 (A-C) in Maths and English.

  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent experience.

  • Good communication, organizational, and telephone skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a busy hospital front desk environment.

  • Competency in basic IT and Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience in a hospital administration or NHS receptionist role.

  • ECDL qualification.

  • Familiarity with NHS systems like iPM or other clinical software.

  • Experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Band: Band 2 (Agenda for Change Pay Scale)

  • Salary: £24,169 per annum

  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week (between 08:00 and 18:00 on a rota)
