Client Manager, Employee Benefits

Position Summary

The Employee Benefits Client Manager (CM) partners with Producers and Client Executives to implement employee benefits strategies and provide day-to-day client service. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring smooth operations, compliance, and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage client relationships, serving as the main contact for employee benefits inquiries.

  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, producers, and team members to implement comprehensive service plans.

  • Prepare Requests for Proposal (RFPs), analyze benefit plan designs, market comparisons, and contribution strategies.

  • Support negotiations with carriers to secure competitive premiums, commissions, and coverage.

  • Coordinate open enrollment meetings and prepare communication materials.

  • Advise clients on government reporting and compliance issues.

  • Maintain accurate records, proposals, workflow logs, and benefit information in agency management systems.

  • Stay informed on industry trends, legislation, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.

  • Project a professional image in action and appearance.

Key Competencies

  • Full knowledge of Employee Benefits lines of coverage and services.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).

  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and multi-tasking ability.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with Agency Management Systems, compliance, and industry operations.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Client Manager in a benefits consulting, brokerage firm, or similar role.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and presentation programs.

  • Ability to handle multiple competing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • High-level interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Washington Life, Disability (health), and Travel license required.

  • Valid Driver’s License.
