Job Summary
The Clinical Specialist (CS I) Physical Therapist provides direct patient care, including assessment, development, and implementation of treatment programs. This role also functions as a clinical mentor and resource for staff and students, supporting patient outcomes and professional growth. The CS I reports to the Director, Assistant Director, and/or Clinical Supervisor and may deliver educational programs locally and regionally.
Essential Responsibilities

Evaluate patients and conduct clinical testing (strength, reflexes, range of motion, coordination, posture, gait, ADLs).

Develop individualized treatment goals and therapy plans.

Administer therapeutic exercise programs and modalities.

Reassess progress and adjust plans as needed.

Educate and support patients and families.

Supervise PT Assistants and PT Aides.

Participate in interdisciplinary care, case conferences, and discharge planning.

Document services accurately and on time.

Mentor staff, support training, and oversee clinical competencies.

Assist with quality assurance, policy development, and compliance.
Basic Qualifications

Experience:
-
3 years of PT experience (2080 hrs = 1 year), OR
-
Completion of an APTA-credentialed fellowship, OR
-
2 years of experience plus specialty certification exam.

Education:

Accredited PT degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate).

Minimum 200 hours of specialized continuing education, residency, or fellowship coursework.

Licenses/Certifications:
-
California PT License (or PTLA/PT Aide Letter with exam passed within 120 days).

Basic Life Support (BLS).
-
National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Preferred Qualifications
-
APTA membership.
-
Sports Medicine training (fellowship, ATC, professional team experience).

OCS and/or SCS certification.

Experience treating orthopedic, neurologic, sports, and post-operative patients.
Work Environment
This role is primarily based at the Orange Rehabilitation Pavilion (CMO) with potential assignments at Aliso Creek (ACM) outpatient and OCI inpatient settings depending on operational needs.
