What You’ll Do as a Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer
As a Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer, you’ll play a vital role in evaluating, training, and improving coding practices:
- Conduct audits of staff work and provide detailed reports with improvement recommendations.
- Manage and execute auditing projects that require independence and innovation.
- Assist in revising policies, procedures, and workflow processes for continuous improvement.
- Identify training needs and develop effective training programs for clinical and coding teams.
- Design and utilize appropriate training materials and aids.
- Maintain detailed records of training activities, audits, and staff progress.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards.
Skills and Qualifications for Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer
The ideal Clinical Coding Auditor & Trainer candidate will bring strong auditing, coding, and clinical expertise, along with excellent communication and analytical skills.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in Nursing or equivalent experience.
- 4+ years of DRG and/or Medical Record Audit experience.
- Minimum of 1 year in a clinical or acute care hospital setting.
- RN, PA, MD, APRN, DO, or MBBS license (required).
- Inpatient coding experience (highly preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- CPC or CIC (AAPC), CCS (AHIMA), RHIA, or RHIT credentials preferred.
Travel Requirement:
- Primarily remote role with minimal travel — must be willing to travel to New York twice per year.
