Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient screenings and complete nutrition assessments and diagnoses based on clinical condition, age-specific needs, and cultural/religious factors.

  • Identify malnutrition and monitor/re-screen patients to adjust nutrition care plans.

  • Provide excellent patient communication, customer service, and follow-up.

  • Implement targeted nutrition interventions and deliver customized education to patients, families, and caregivers.

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to contribute to overall patient care.

  • Support menu development for patients, cafeteria, and catering services.

  • Ensure compliance with TJC, CMS, and state health department regulations.

  • Participate in committees (Quality, P&T) and maintain infection control practices.

  • May serve as lead Registered Dietitian as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics/Nutrition (ACEND-accredited program).

  • Two (2) years of experience as a hospital clinical dietitian.

  • Experience with specialized populations (e.g., pediatrics, bariatrics, ICU) preferred.

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

  • ServSafe® Allergen and Food Handler certifications (within 12 months).

    • If not current, must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Position Details

  • Location: Santa Maria, CA

  • Pay Range: $39.18 – $58.28/hour (DOE)

  • Schedule: Full-time, hospital-based clinical role
