Job Summary

Trinity Health is hiring a Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist to join our remote team. This role ensures the quality, accuracy, and integrity of clinical documentation across medical records. You’ll work closely with physicians and healthcare teams to enhance documentation that supports accurate coding, severity of illness, medical necessity, and overall quality care delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medical records to ensure accurate, complete, and consistent clinical documentation

  • Conduct concurrent chart reviews to validate severity of illness and risk of mortality

  • Query physicians and providers for clarification when needed

  • Educate care team members on best documentation practices and requirements

  • Collaborate with coding teams to ensure integrity in final coded data

  • Use 3M/360 software to monitor documentation improvement metrics

  • Travel up to 10% to Trinity Health sites (as needed)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s or diploma degree in Nursing, HIT, or a related field

  • One of the following credentials is required:

    • Registered Nurse (RN)

    • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCDS, or CDIP

  • At least 2 years of experience in inpatient care, critical care, or clinical coding (preferred)

  • Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills

  • Proficiency in using Windows-based systems, email, and data entry (minimum 30 WPM)

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
