Role Purpose

The pharmacist plays a crucial role in assessing, monitoring, initiating, and adjusting medication therapies according to the patient’s condition and age-specific criteria. The goal is to ensure the timely and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications while preventing and resolving medication-related issues. The role also involves supervising supportive personnel and providing counseling to optimize drug therapy.

Responsibilities

Workforce Management: Directs and oversees the workflow, ensuring the accuracy of technicians, interns, and volunteers’ work in accordance with departmental procedures and applicable regulations.
Medication Therapy Expertise: Serves as a key resource for drug information, staff training, transitions of care, and Medication Therapy Services.
Evaluation: Assesses medication orders for appropriateness based on patient condition, organ function, and concurrent therapies to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Documents all actions and communications as needed.
Process Improvement: Identifies opportunities for improving medication use efficiency and safety, offering solutions to enhance these processes.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
Experience: Supervisory experience is not required
Licenses & Certifications:
- Medication Therapy Services certification in Missouri
- Registered Pharmacist (RPh) license

Preferred Requirements

Education: Doctorate in Pharmacy (PharmD)
Experience: 2-5 years of experience in pharmacy practice
