Position Overview
Lompoc Valley Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Services team. Reporting directly to the Director of Pharmacy Services, this role provides leadership in pharmaceutical care, supports medication management, and serves as a clinical resource for physicians, nursing, and allied health staff. The Clinical Pharmacist also plays an active role in improving pharmacy operations and patient safety across the District.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients in an acute hospital setting.

Evaluate and direct patient pharmacotherapy plans.

Oversee medication accountability, preparation, distribution, and administration.

Provide clinical consultation for the Comprehensive Care Center.

Supervise, mentor, and train pharmacy personnel.

Conduct in-services and educational programs for nursing, medical, and allied health staff.

Support performance improvement and pharmacy operational initiatives.

Ensure compliance with C-I-CARE principles and LVMC’s mission of respect, professionalism, and patient-centered care.
Essential Functions

Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to pharmacy staff.

Manage time effectively and prioritize multiple responsibilities.

Demonstrate strong computer literacy (MS Office and web-based systems).

Safely prepare IV admixtures, unit-dose packaging, and handle medium-load lifting.

Apply advanced mathematical skills for dosage calculations.

Work effectively as part of a collaborative healthcare team.
Qualifications

Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy (or BSPharm with relevant experience).

Licensure: Active California Pharmacist license required.

Experience: Acute care pharmacy experience with proven clinical competence preferred.

Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational abilities; proficiency with clinical and operational pharmacy functions.
