Job Summary
Opti9 is seeking a Cloud Engineer III with deep expertise in virtualization, domain services, and storage technologies. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise Hyper-V and VMware environments while managing core infrastructure services. You will contribute to automation initiatives, mentor team members, and participate in on-call rotations to support critical client incidents. This role blends technical leadership with hands-on engineering in a collaborative, client-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities

Virtualization & Cloud Infrastructure

  • Design, implement, and maintain virtualization environments using Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware vSphere.

  • Administer VMware Cloud Director, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) where applicable.

  • Support enterprise storage systems, including SAN and software-defined storage.

  • Perform capacity planning, patching, and upgrades across hypervisors and storage platforms.

Domain & Systems Management

  • Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and domain services.

  • Troubleshoot performance and availability issues across compute, storage, and virtualization layers.

  • Collaborate with networking, backup, and systems teams to deliver seamless cloud solutions.

Automation & Documentation

  • Contribute to automation initiatives using PowerShell, CLI, or other scripting tools.

  • Develop and maintain system documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.

  • Mentor junior engineers in troubleshooting, deployment best practices, and process improvements.

Client & On-Call Support

  • Participate in on-call rotations to respond to critical incidents.

  • Assist clients with migrations, onboarding, and infrastructure expansions.

  • Deliver technical guidance and maintain high client satisfaction through effective support.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of IT experience, with 3+ years in systems engineering, virtualization, or cloud environments.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and SCVMM administration.

  • Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi; VMware Cloud Director, NSX, and VCF are a plus.

  • Deep understanding of Active Directory, domain trusts, and authentication services.

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise storage systems (NetApp, HPE, or similar).

  • Familiarity with Windows Server clustering, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with backup and replication technologies (Veeam, Zerto).

  • Scripting or automation experience (PowerShell, CLI, infrastructure-as-code tools).

  • Strong client communication skills and ability to work independently.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure Administrator and VMware VCP are highly desirable.
