Key Responsibilities for the Risk Adjustment Coder Role

  • Review medical records for complete and compliant diagnosis code abstraction across multiple payer types.

  • Accurately apply ICD-10-CM codes following official guidelines and Cotiviti standards.

  • Maintain a minimum 95% quality accuracy in all coding reviews.

  • Participate in the dispute resolution process for coding determinations.

  • Stay updated on coding changes through mandatory trainings and workshops.

  • Communicate coding findings and improvement suggestions to the Team Lead.

  • Complete assigned special projects and contribute to department improvement initiatives.


Qualifications for Risk Adjustment Coder

  • Education: High School Diploma required.

  • Certification: Valid coding certification through AAPC or AHIMA (CRC, CPC, CCS, etc.).

  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in medical risk adjustment or HCC coding preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.

  • Proficiency in using electronic coding platforms with attention to both speed and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.

Working Conditions and Benefits

This is a remote Risk Adjustment Coder position for candidates based in the continental U.S. You must have a secure, distraction-free workspace and a high-speed internet connection.

Compensation: $21–$26 per hour, based on experience and certifications.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, daytime hours only.
