Certified Coder II (Denials) Job Responsibilities
As a Certified Coder II (Denials), you will review, code, and reconcile medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance. You’ll collaborate with billing departments, perform charge reconciliation, and manage professional (Profee) coding tasks.
Key Duties
- Abstract and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes accurately.
- Review medical documentation for proper code assignment.
- Perform charge reconciliation and verify scheduled procedure accuracy.
- Research payor policies and assist in denials management.
- Support special projects and maintain variance tracking.
Certified Coder II (Denials) Job Requirements
To qualify, you’ll need at least 2 years of professional (Profee) coding experience and completion of advanced-level training in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Associate Degree in a related field (Preferred)
Certifications
- CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or
- CCS-P (Certified Coding Specialist – Physician-based) — Required
