Position Summary
We are seeking a Coder III with demonstrated proficiency in high-acuity inpatient coding and/or complex technical outpatient coding (e.g., Observation, Radiation Oncology, Chemotherapy Infusion, Cardiac Cath/EP, Interventional Radiology, and Surgery). The ideal candidate will support timely billing and revenue cycle goals through accurate code assignment and DRG optimization.
Key Responsibilities

Review complete medical records to determine and assign principal/secondary diagnoses, procedures, and complications using ICD-10-CM, PCS, HCPCS, and CPT

Accurately sequence codes to maintain 95%+ coding accuracy

Achieve optimal DRG assignments using computer-assisted coding tools

Meet or exceed department productivity benchmarks

Place accounts on hold appropriately when additional documentation is needed; communicate with CDI, leadership, or medical staff as necessary

Stay current on coding guidelines and share knowledge with peers

Complete assigned work conscientiously and reliably

Actively pursue continuing education and professional growth

Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental goals

Perform related duties or special projects as assigned
Requirements
Education
-
High School Diploma – Required
-
Associate’s degree – Preferred
Experience
-
3–5 years of relevant coding experience
-
Proficiency in inpatient coding, ICD-10, PCS, and/or complex outpatient coding (Observation, Oncology, Cardiology, IR, etc.)
Licensure/Certification
Must hold one or more of the following:

AHIMA or AAPC credentials, such as:
-
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CIC
-
COC, CPC, CCA
-
CCC, CIRCC, CCVTC
-
Or any Core/Specialty Credential from AAPC or AHIMA
