As an experienced Coder Outpatient, you’ll play a key role in assigning accurate diagnostic and procedural codes using industry-standard classification systems. This 100% remote position allows you to make an impact from anywhere while ensuring compliance and precision in medical coding.


Coder Outpatient Job Responsibilities

As a Coder Outpatient, you will review medical records and assign the correct diagnostic and procedural codes according to the appropriate classification systems. You’ll also:

  • Assign charges for applicable clinics or departments as needed.

  • Collaborate with managers and supervisors to resolve coding and documentation issues.

  • Seek clarifications from healthcare providers to ensure complete and accurate coding.

  • Continuously enhance your coding skills through ongoing education and training.

This position requires strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.


Qualifications and Experience for Coder Outpatient

To qualify as a Coder Outpatient, you must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC (such as CPC, CCS, or RHIT).

Preferred candidates will have prior outpatient coding experience and a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems.
