Coder Outpatient Job Responsibilities
As a Coder Outpatient, you will review medical records and assign the correct diagnostic and procedural codes according to the appropriate classification systems. You’ll also:

Assign charges for applicable clinics or departments as needed.

Collaborate with managers and supervisors to resolve coding and documentation issues.

Seek clarifications from healthcare providers to ensure complete and accurate coding.

Continuously enhance your coding skills through ongoing education and training.
This position requires strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Qualifications and Experience for Coder Outpatient
To qualify as a Coder Outpatient, you must meet the following requirements:

High school diploma or GED.

Coding-related certification from AHIMA or AAPC (such as CPC, CCS, or RHIT).
Preferred candidates will have prior outpatient coding experience and a strong understanding of ICD-10-CM and CPT classification systems.
