Position Overview
BelovED Community Charter School seeks a College Counselor to join our dedicated student support team. This role is essential in helping high school students build a clear college and career vision, while providing hands-on guidance through the admissions, financial aid, and post-secondary planning process.
Required Certification / Qualifications

Valid School Counselor CE, CEAS, or Standard License from the New Jersey Department of Education

Key Responsibilities
College & Career Advising
-
Advise 11th–12th grade students on the college admissions process
-
Guide students considering alternative post-graduation pathways
-
Assist seniors with college applications, FAFSA, EOF/EOP documentation
-
Host family workshops on FAFSA, DACA, and admissions programs
-
Track and report key student data: testing, graduation requirements, enrichment, and volunteer opportunities
Communication
-
Share information with students, staff, and families about admissions deadlines, financial aid, scholarships, and college events

Build partnerships with colleges and universities
-
Coordinate and manage external requests for site visits and presentations
-
Maintain confidentiality regarding student and program data
Scheduling, Coordination & Programming

Organize college tours, fairs, and campus events
-
Schedule summer enrichment and volunteer presentations
-
Coordinate logistics for representative visits and family workshops
-
Support juniors and seniors in dual-enrollment/college-credit opportunities

Participate in after-hours events: family nights, performances, conferences, and trips
College Readiness Curriculum & Instruction

Teach College Readiness courses with lesson planning, assignments, and progress tracking

Develop curriculum to prepare students for admissions and professional growth

Implement classroom systems that build awareness of professionalism and college readiness

Maintain consistent communication with students and families about progress
