Join Horizon Care and Education as a Commercial Finance Controller
Horizon Care and Education is looking for a talented Commercial Finance Controller to join their team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This role offers the chance to work with a growing organization that provides children’s homes, specialist education, and supported accommodation across England. As a Commercial Finance Controller, you will play a key role in supporting young people to flourish by overseeing financial management and P&L control.
You will be working primarily from home, with occasional travel required to meet senior management and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities of the Commercial Finance Controller

Lead the strategic management and control of P&L to ensure financial targets are met.

Provide financial analysis and insights to guide effective decision-making and financial strategies.

Work closely with the executive team to enhance financial processes and ensure the integrity of the company’s ledger.

Monitor and review monthly and quarterly financial numbers and disclosures.

Ensure tax, permit, and licensing requirements are met for the organization.

Oversee external audits and collaborate with external accountants for tax preparation duties.
As a Commercial Finance Controller, your expertise will contribute significantly to the financial health and strategic direction of the organization.
Skills and Qualifications for a Successful Commercial Finance Controller
To excel in this role, you should have:

A fully qualified Chartered Accountant (AAT), with a Master’s or equivalent level qualification.

Previous experience in a commercial business partner role, ideally within the financial sector.

Strong understanding of tax, compliance, and financial controls.

The ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Experience in providing accurate financial reports and budget analysis.

A proactive approach to problem-solving and driving financial improvements.
