What You’ll Do

  • Ensure all benefit-related practices comply with federal and state regulations, as well as banking industry standards, to mitigate legal risks.

  • Oversee salary and wage administration to maintain compliance with labor laws including FLSA, EPA, and minimum wage regulations, ensuring consistent internal and external pay equity.

  • Analyze and enhance compensation and benefits programs to remain competitive, while offering training and guidance to employees and managers.

  • Conduct in-depth structural analysis of compensation and benefits programs to confirm market competitiveness, cost efficiency, and high value to Heartland Bank and Trust employees.

  • Manage all aspects of employee benefits administration, serving as a liaison between staff and benefit providers. Maintain and update the benefits module within the HRIS system, collaborate with brokers to review usage trends, and lead discussions on plan renewals during open enrollment.

  • Oversee the timely review and submission of monthly benefits invoices.

  • Qualifications & Requirements
  • Proficiency with HCM systems; experience with ADP strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to administer compensation management software including merit planning, budgeting, market benchmarking, and survey tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred, with at least 6 years of experience in HR compensation, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation or progress toward certification is highly desirable.

  • HR certification at the time of hire is preferred.
