Description:
SAIC is seeking a Network Architect to support IT Service Management for USTRANSCOM at Scott AFB, Illinois. You will provide expert guidance for the operation and modernization of their infrastructure, systems, and applications, working within the TCJ6 directorate. This role involves independent work on critical program aspects and may include overseeing less senior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Develop network strategy and design infrastructure for global WAN backbones and distributed datacenters.
- Provide technical expertise in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), IPv6, and VPN.
- Advise on technology purchases for processing, storage, access, and application development.
- Set standards for client/server relational database structures (SQL, Oracle, Sybase, etc.).
- Assess the feasibility of future projects for management.
- Install and maintain network transport mediums (fiber, wireless, copper), including user access drops.
- Operate, maintain, and manage secure and non-secure wireless communication infrastructure, network connectivity, and services.
- Coordinate and perform cryptographic circuit maintenance and planned upgrades with minimal disruption.
- Collect and report Network Availability Metrics.
- Support Domain Name Server (DNS) and Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) capabilities.
- Configure and manage IP address space and VLANs, assign IP addresses, and troubleshoot related issues.
- Review network service requests and provide technical solution recommendations.
- Document and maintain accurate technical documentation (architecture diagrams, equipment layouts, configurations) using government tools.
- Adhere to team processes to meet service level agreements.
- Respond to incidents and provide after-action support.
- Work standard business hours with potential for after-hours and weekend support.
Qualifications:
Required:
- BA/BS.
- 10+ years of experience.
- DoD Secret clearance.
- IAT Level II certification (Security+, CECCNA-Security, CySA+ **, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP).
- Computing Environment (CE) certification relevant to Network support/defense (e.g., Splunk, Cisco, McAfee).
- Experience installing and maintaining networks in a DoD environment adhering to security requirements.
- Technical expertise in routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), IPv6, VPN across global WANs and distributed datacenters.
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel).
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
