Mortenson is seeking an experienced Electrical Manager I to lead solar projects with flexibility, resourcefulness, and professionalism. This role is responsible for anticipating and solving problems, ensuring project quality, timeliness, and safety, while mentoring the project team. Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to build and strengthen customer relationships through exceptional service.

📍 Travel Requirement: This is a 100% travel position. Locations vary by project, typically lasting about a year or longer. Mortenson hires for a career, not just a project—once one assignment ends, you’ll transition to the next.
Responsibilities

Manage the financial health of projects, including budgets, invoices, projections, and billings.

Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and trade partner selection.

Allocate project estimates into financial systems and establish cost codes.

Lead contract buyouts and manage budget approvals.

Provide accurate and timely project financials to Accounting.

Supervise and mentor Assistant Project Managers and Engineers, guiding job assignments and career development.

Ensure overall project quality, safety, timeliness, and compliance.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).

8+ years of electrical construction management and/or design experience.

At least 1 year of project completion experience (mobilization to turnover).

Strong knowledge of medium and high-voltage electrical systems, substations, and transmission lines.

Utility solar project experience preferred.

Proficiency with NEC and NE safety codes.

Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, Project, and related applications.

Self-perform experience preferred.

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 100%.

Compensation & Benefits
💰 Base Pay Range: $122,600 – $183,900 (higher ranges for select metro locations: Denver, CO & Chicago, IL +5%, Seattle, WA & Portland, OR +10%, Washington, D.C. +12.5%).
