Overview
We are seeking a forward-thinking Consultant in Geriatric Medicine to join our diverse and dynamic multidisciplinary team. This substantive post will be based within the Care of the Elderly Department (COE) at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust (NMUH).
Our department includes 12 Consultants with a wide range of specialty interests, providing you with opportunities to develop your own subspecialty focus in areas such as Frailty, Dementia, Falls, Stroke, Surgical Liaison, and Community Geriatrics.
Key Responsibilities
The postholder will:

Provide day-to-day clinical care and leadership on the base Geriatric Medicine Ward or Frailty Unit (Amber Ward)

Lead daily board rounds and manage new admissions

Develop and improve patient pathways in collaboration with the Clinical Director

Contribute to clinical governance, including the development of clinical guidelines, audits, and QI initiatives

Actively participate in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training
-
Supervise junior doctors and allied health professionals
-
Have the opportunity to develop a subspecialty interest aligned with the Trust’s service needs
-
Undertake SPA (Supporting Professional Activities) such as:

Protocol and guideline development
-
Joint pathways with A&E or other specialties
-
Teaching and training responsibilities
-
CPD and CME
-
Additional SPA duties may be agreed upon with the postholder
