Are you an experienced full-cycle accountant ready for a new opportunity? Our client, a transportation service company in Ottawa, is looking for a Controller to oversee their accounting operations. If you have a solid background in accounting and are seeking a full-time, on-site role, this might be the perfect fit.
Salary range: $85,000-95,000
About you
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- 5+ years in full-cycle accounting, budgeting, analysis, and reporting
- Expertise in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Experience advising CFOs and CEOs on strategy
- Proven experience leading a team of accounting professionals
- Full-cycle payroll expertise and ability to back up Payroll Manager
About the role
If hired, you will:
- Oversee accounting operations: billing, AR/AP, payroll, general ledger, and reporting
- Manage month/year-end financial close and review financial reports
- Improve accounting policies, procedures, and technical analysis
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting
- Analyze data, recommend improvements, and assist with key financial decisions
- Develop/enforce internal controls to protect assets and workflows
- Manage the annual audit and preparation of necessary forms and documents
- Lead and support the accounting team with dynamic, trust-based leadership
