Position Summary

We are seeking Part-Time Cooks to join our culinary team at the Knoxville Convention Center. Reporting to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef, you will prepare high-quality hot and cold food items, maintain sanitation standards, and assist in executing large-scale events and catered functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare vegetables, baked goods, cold sauces, and other menu items.

• Maintain an organized, sanitary workstation in compliance with industry standards.

• Properly label and date all food for storage.

• Operate kitchen equipment (ovens, stoves, grills, steamers, smokers, mixers, kettles, char-broilers, etc.).

• Follow recipes, portion controls, and production techniques to minimize waste.

• Assist in plating and presentation for catered events.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Maintain grooming and dress code standards.

• Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.

Qualifications

• Preferred: 2+ years of experience as a prep cook or in a similar role.

• ServSafe Certified or ability to obtain within 90 days.

• Knowledge of state health codes and sanitation standards.

• Ability to follow recipes and perform basic math for portioning and measurements.

• Skills in diverse culinary techniques, including multi-ethnic cuisine.

• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

• Must pass a criminal background check.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long hours and work in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be able to lift, carry, and move items as required for kitchen operations.

• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors depending on event needs.
