About the Role: Cost Engineer

Cost Engineers at Turner & Townsend play a vital role in major projects, providing accurate and timely project information on performance against established baselines. They are responsible for driving cost performance reporting, including all Earned Value Management (EVM) metrics related to key project commitments and expenditures.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project cost control data structures for accurate cost tracking and control.
  • Establish and maintain the project control budget aligned with agreed baselines.
  • Track actual costs (internal and external) against cost control structures.
  • Manage project accruals and commitments within budget constraints.
  • Develop project forecasts, including estimated work to complete (ETC) and estimate at complete (EAC).
  • Provide accurate and timely project reporting, including EVM.
  • Monitor project contingency and exposure related to risk events and remaining project risks.
  • Track project change control to ensure alignment with agreed baselines and control data structures.
  • Identify and track key project trends to inform future change controls.

Qualifications:

A relevant graduate degree and proven experience delivering project control services for major projects or programs are typically required. CIMA qualification is also welcomed.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in cost engineering across various major projects, ideally in multiple sectors.
  • Experience across the entire project lifecycle, including pre-investment decision, design development, execution, and commissioning phases.
  • Familiarity with cost engineering procedures and processes, and the ability to define project cost procedures and standards.
  • Proficiency with cost management systems like Prism and Ecosys, including integration with corporate finance systems such as SAP and Oracle. Understanding of business rules and how project funding and performance align with business financial accounting requirements within the project or program environment.
