 Job Overview

We’re hiring a Seasonal Costume Production Assistant to support our Costume Shop in preparing and distributing costumes for Macy’s world-renowned events. This role includes handling event logistics, assisting with costume setup and dressing areas, managing shipments, and supporting the team with administrative and maintenance tasks.

Note: This position begins as part-time and transitions to full-time closer to Thanksgiving.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and distribute large quantities of stock costumes for events

  • Organize and prepare UPS batch shipments

  • Assist Costume Shop Managers and Director with:

    • Inventory and office tasks

    • Phone and errands

    • Shop cleanup and costume laundering

    • Basic sewing, repairs, and crafting

  • Participate in load-in/load-out, setup, and strike for events

  • Manage dressing areas and assist talent during live event days

  • Promote a respectful, inclusive environment that reflects Macy’s values

 Skills & Requirements

  • Organization & Logistics: Ability to coordinate shipments, costume prep, and event timelines

  • Team Support: Excellent interpersonal skills; work efficiently with managers and team members

  • Administrative Proficiency: Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Sewing & Garment Maintenance: Basic sewing/repair skills preferred; fabric knowledge a plus

  • Physical Stamina: Able to lift 40+ lbs repeatedly, stand for long periods, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks

  • Flexibility: Available for weekend shifts, overtime, and Thanksgiving Day

  • Transportation: Must have reliable transportation to the Moonachie, NJ location

  • Visual Requirements: Close and color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

 Who You Are

  • Experience in theater production, stage management, fashion shows, or event logistics preferred

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment

  • Passionate about events, logistics, costume prep, and Macy’s iconic legacy
