Job Description

At Regions, the Cyber Security Engineer plays a key role in supporting cybersecurity services for cloud applications, infrastructure, platform security, and other critical technologies within the Cyber Security organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity technology solutions.
  • Provide technical support and administration, including troubleshooting, break-fix operations, patch management, and daily system maintenance.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and align technology strategies with organizational goals.
  • Review and maintain operational documentation and reports to support trend analysis and project planning.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement technology solutions, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of different options, including build vs. buy decisions.
  • Investigate new technologies and solutions to enhance business processes, efficiency, and security measures.
  • Assist in security incident response efforts and conduct post-event analysis.
  • Collaborate with subject-matter experts to design, implement, and manage cybersecurity solutions across various business areas, projects, and vendor partnerships.
  • Assess security standards and best practices, evaluating their impact on the organization’s cybersecurity framework.
  • Monitor cybersecurity metrics, controls, and governance policies to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide continuous support for cybersecurity technologies.
  • Mentor junior engineers, offering guidance and support to build technical knowledge and skills.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of operational processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Follow established cybersecurity procedures and best practices to maintain system integrity.
  • Support senior engineers with complex projects as needed.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage competing demands effectively.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, cloud computing, enterprise systems, and network architecture.
  • Knowledge of defense-in-depth strategies, trust levels, user privileges, and security permissions.
  • Familiarity with modern security tools, controls, and best practices.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve security challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational abilities.
