PingWind is seeking a Cyber Security – Application Assessor to support the Department of Veterans Affairs. This fully remote position plays a key role in managing Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, ensuring applications meet federal security standards and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop application threat models to determine required security controls.
- Verify implementation of cybersecurity controls.
- Create, maintain, and close Plans of Action and Milestones (POAMs).
- Prepare and review documentation to support ATO evidence.
- Manage the ATO process from start to finish.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or 8 years of experience in lieu of degree).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of VA risk management frameworks, NIST policies, and VA Handbook 6500.
- Excellent written, verbal, and client management communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to adapt to diverse customer groups and expectations.
- U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
