Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily security operations by utilizing various technologies to assess and mitigate risks, and by implementing upgrades to existing security infrastructure.

  • Define and maintain system security and data management practices for IT infrastructure, services, and applications.

  • Design and enforce network and system security controls, including authentication protocols, encryption standards, access control mechanisms, anti-malware systems, and software update processes.

  • Serve as the primary escalation point for security incidents, guiding remediation efforts and implementing preventative measures.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance on security requirements for new infrastructure or application development projects.

  • Continuously evaluate existing security processes, tools, and technologies, and make strategic recommendations for improvements.

  • Monitor and report compliance metrics related to corporate and departmental security policies and procedures.

  • Maintain inventory and software licensing related to security tools and platforms.

  • Manage third-party vendors and oversee service delivery related to phishing simulations, awareness training, and other security services.

  • Lead internal security awareness efforts through communication campaigns and training initiatives.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance security efficiencies through vendor engagement, product evaluation, and research.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for security processes, architectures, policies, and technical procedures.

  • Conduct system testing and enforce security controls based on technical specifications and change requests.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, perform root cause analysis, and optimize system performance.

  • Execute system management tasks, including patching, routine maintenance, and infrastructure support.

  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 operational coverage.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in IT, including at least 3 years in an enterprise security or network security role.

  • Security-related certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, CEH) are a plus but not required.


Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF 2.0, PCI DSS).

  • In-depth understanding of the OSI model, IP networking, and system execution processes.

  • Hands-on experience with:

    • Windows Server and Workstation environments

    • Virtualization platforms such as VMware and Citrix

    • Public cloud environments, including Azure and AWS

    • Security technologies (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, IAM, DLP)

    • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, Group Policies

    • Palo Alto firewall administration

    • Vulnerability management and remediation

    • EDR and NGAV platforms

    • Penetration testing and Linux systems (preferred)

  • Experience with incident response, forensics, and cybersecurity operations.

  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as PCI and industry-specific security regulations.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.

  • Effective multitasking, documentation, and project management skills.
