Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine field inspections at active job sites to ensure compliance with 811 dig laws and safe excavation practices.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, homeowners, and utility representatives to provide guidance on preventing underground utility damage.
  • Identify, locate, and mark utility lines and underground infrastructure as needed for safe excavation.
  • Address and resolve discrepancies in utility markings, coordinating necessary corrections to maintain accuracy.
  • Document field activities, inspections, and interactions using company-provided software or logs.
  • Perform quality checks to verify the accuracy of utility markings and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
  • Maintain and perform operator-level maintenance on assigned tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Respond promptly to emergency requests or urgent job site needs to minimize risk and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to support ongoing safety initiatives and enhance damage prevention strategies.
  • Perform additional tasks and duties as assigned by management.

What You Bring to SAM

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in utility location or damage prevention is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with contractors, homeowners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, problem-solve, and adapt to changing job site conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Familiarity with 811 dig laws and safe excavation practices is preferred, though training will be provided.
