Company Overview
For over 60 years, Mercury has been dedicated to helping people reduce risk and navigate life’s unexpected challenges. United by a shared mission to support and protect others, our team is driven by purpose—and we believe insurance is essential to a secure and stable world.
At Mercury, we believe in growing together, celebrating our wins, and supporting one another every step of the way. Our award-winning culture is a direct reflection of the exceptional people who make up our team.
We genuinely care about our employees and show it through competitive compensation, performance-based bonuses, and a robust benefits package designed to support physical, financial, and professional well-being.
Founded in 1961 by George Joseph—our visionary Founder and Chairman—Mercury emerged with a bold idea: create a fairer auto insurance system. At a time when everyone paid the same rate regardless of driving history, Joseph introduced a model that priced policies more equitably based on risk factors, revolutionizing the industry.
“We named our company Mercury,” he explained, “because like the Roman god, we wanted to be fast, reliable, and a true messenger of change.”
