Role Overview
Yahoo is seeking a skilled AI/ML Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for advanced analytics and machine learning. You will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to transform large datasets, support model development, and ensure efficient, secure, and high-performing data flows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines to support AI and ML initiatives on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Implement and optimize data storage solutions using GCP tools such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Dataflow.

• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout its lifecycle.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights.

• Monitor and maintain cloud-based data infrastructure performance and health.

• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce errors.

• Apply data governance and compliance best practices.

• Stay up-to-date with GCP tools, features, and best practices.

• Document architectural decisions, solutions, and processes for knowledge sharing and maintainability.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, with strong system design and backend development skills.

• 2+ years hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery, Dataproc, Composer, Dataflow, Data Catalog, Observability) or AWS equivalent.

• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines supporting ML/AI model development, training, and deployment.

• Proficiency in Java, Python, or Scala; SQL skills for database operations.

• Knowledge of data security, compliance, and governance best practices.

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset.

• Excellent communication skills to convey insights and manage stakeholder expectations.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive base salary: $96,000 – $200,000/year, depending on experience and location
