As a member of the Data Management & RWA Capital team at MUFG, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance of data used in Risk-Weighted Asset (RWA) reporting under Basel frameworks. You will work cross-functionally with stakeholders across risk, finance, and regulatory reporting to manage and resolve data quality issues, support audit processes, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of data governance and capital reporting standards aligned with BCBS 239 requirements and the firm’s Capital and Data Management policies.
Key Responsibilities
-
Data Governance & Basel Reporting Support
Actively contribute to the end-to-end delivery of Basel reporting by ensuring data quality and compliance with internal policies and regulatory frameworks such as BCBS 239. Responsibilities include identifying critical data elements (CDEs), addressing data anomalies, and upholding data governance principles across multiple business units. -
Issue Management & Resolution
Serve as a central point of contact for identifying, tracking, managing, and resolving data and RWA-related discrepancies—especially those arising from reconciliations. Regularly report on the status of open vs. resolved issues to the RWA & Capital Manager and other senior stakeholders. -
Audit & Controls Coordination
Collaborate with internal auditors and control functions to review and resolve material findings (e.g., MSIIs and audit points). Success is measured by the number and quality of reconciliations completed and the resolution rate of identified issues. -
Data Source Analysis & Mapping
Work across diverse data repositories to identify issues at their source and map key data flows. Determine the optimal data sources for RWA reporting by evaluating data usage, accuracy, and lineage across the enterprise. -
Critical Data Element (CDE) Identification
Identify, validate, and document critical data elements across various RWA and Basel III reporting streams to ensure consistent and high-quality data for risk and capital reporting. -
Data Quality Rule Documentation
Partner with functions such as Credit and Market Risk, Finance, Regulatory Reporting, and master/reference data teams to establish and document data quality rules. Ensure these rules are housed in a centralized repository for enterprise-wide reference. -
Management Support & Reporting
Assist the Capital and Data Management Lead and Data Officer in compiling insights, status updates, and dashboards for senior management presentations. Provide data-backed recommendations and strategic input for capital data quality improvement. -
Executive & Committee Reporting
Create and maintain high-level management reports that reflect the state of RWA data quality. Distribute these reports to key committees such as Liquidity/ALCO to support data-driven, timely business decisions.
