About the Role
Centene is seeking a Data Scientist to lead advanced and predictive data analytics initiatives that drive healthcare innovation and improve member outcomes. In this role, you will apply big data, machine learning, and statistical modeling techniques to analyze complex structured and unstructured data. You’ll develop predictive models, design scalable analytics workflows, and deliver actionable insights that support Centene’s mission of improving healthcare access and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Perform advanced analysis on healthcare data to uncover insights, trends, and opportunities.

Build predictive models and algorithms to forecast member outcomes and assess healthcare decision impacts.

Design and implement data models aligned with business and clinical objectives.

Create tools and workflows for extracting, analyzing, and storing data in business-ready formats.

Conduct exploratory data analysis to support strategic decision-making.

Design and evaluate experiments to monitor metrics and identify process improvements.

Develop mathematical and statistical models to detect patterns and relevant events within large datasets.

Communicate findings effectively through presentations, reports, and data visualizations.

Contribute to scalable, automated analytics processes that enable durable workflows.

Validate and measure the effectiveness of health management programs using provider, claims, and membership data.

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.

Mentor and train junior Data Analysts to strengthen team expertise.
Qualifications
-
Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Informatics, Econometrics, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of experience
or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of extensive quantitative analysis experience -
Proficiency in data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, and statistical modeling

Hands-on experience working with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets

Strong knowledge of database technologies: Oracle, Teradata, MS SQL Server, SAP HANA, MySQL

Proficiency with R, SAS, and R Shiny for analysis and visualization

Ability to design and implement mathematical and statistical models for pattern recognition

Excellent communication skills to present complex results to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Experience designing automated, scalable analytics processes

Salary range: $86,000 – $154,700 per year
