Are you interested in driving data science innovation? E Source is growing, and we’re looking for a collaborative Data Scientist to join our team. In this role, you’ll work closely with utility experts, software engineers, and machine learning professionals to design, develop, and deploy impactful data science solutions. Projects include energy usage modeling, detecting grid-impacting behaviors, and evaluating the effectiveness of utility-managed programs. Your work will directly contribute to the integration of advanced models into our production software used by utility clients.

How You’ll Help

Translate project scopes into technical tasks using Jira issues

Explore and evaluate data sufficiency for data science tasks

Develop actionable insights through data exploration and modeling

Build and validate statistical and machine learning models

Collaborate on the development and maintenance of data science pipelines

Manage code repositories and participate in code reviews

Communicate with clients throughout the project lifecycle

Identify data sources to solve complex utility industry challenges
What Will Make You a Great Fit

Master’s degree or PhD in statistics, economics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or a related field

Strong communication and presentation skills
-
Proficiency in R or Python (fluency in both preferred)

Professional experience applying data science methods in real-world projects

Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud environments

Solid understanding of model families such as GLMs, time series, regression, tree-based models, neural networks, and NLP
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Databricks and PySpark

Professional experience in the utility or energy sector

Knowledge of customer and distribution grid data models

Competitive salary: $85,000 – $130,000 USD + annual bonus (based on experience)
