Key Responsibilities

  • Apply economic theory and econometric methods to generate data-driven insights and recommendations.

  • Design, analyze, and interpret experiments and quasi-experimental studies.

  • Build econometric and statistical models to address complex business challenges.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams—including executives, product, finance, and marketing—to translate insights into strategy.

  • Develop scalable algorithms, models, and decision-support tools.

  • Communicate technical results and methodologies clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Create performance metrics to measure and demonstrate business impact.

  • Identify opportunities to apply data science for optimization and innovation across Hershey operations.

Scope of Work

  • Influence multiple teams and advise senior leadership on strategic decisions.

  • Model complex interactions across systems, teams, and processes.

  • Shape technical and business strategies through advanced economic and data science methods.

  • Collaborate to optimize interconnected systems, processes, and outcomes.

  • Share expertise to enhance collaboration, improve tools, and strengthen team capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics or related field.

  • Strong background in analyzing experimental and observational datasets.

  • Proficiency in statistical tools (R, MATLAB, SAS, Stata, Python with NumPy) and basic SQL.

  • Expertise in econometric model development, validation, and implementation.

  • Proven research record with patents or publications in top-tier journals/conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in empirical industrial organization.

  • Strong econometric modeling experience in preferences, strategic interactions, and causal inference.

  • Effective communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.

  • 3+ years of experience applying quantitative research in business environments.

  • Hands-on experience with machine learning, operations research, or deep learning methods.

  • Experience building solutions in areas such as A/B testing, forecasting, inventory optimization, pricing strategies, recommender systems, or customer choice modeling.
