Position Overview

We are seeking a Database Administrator I to join our IT team. In this role, you will manage, maintain, and optimize relational database platforms to ensure high performance, reliability, and security. You’ll play a key role in system configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and providing subject matter expertise in database technologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer relational databases, including user management, storage management, and system configuration.

  • Develop and maintain database backup, restore, and maintenance procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve database performance and availability issues.

  • Stay up to date with new releases and functionalities, managing upgrades and change control.

  • Collaborate with IT Development, Network Operations, and occasionally vendors, consultants, and end-users.

  • Create and manage documentation, including system specifications and training manuals.

  • Support database-related projects, initiatives, and special assignments.


Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of relational database administration.

  • Proven experience with SQL programming.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery concepts.

  • Experience troubleshooting relational database performance.

  • Understanding of operating systems, storage, and networking fundamentals.

  • Basic knowledge of business intelligence (BI) platforms.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (experience considered in lieu of degree).

  • 2+ years managing Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments.

  • Knowledge of cloud-based relational and non-relational databases.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Ability to follow project management practices and work independently.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality results.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.


Compensation

  • Salary range: $81,400 – $101,800 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.

  • Additional opportunities for bonuses and career advancement.
